MEET THE HELLWORKERS: CRISTÓBAL MAÑAS

How is your typical day at Tequila Works?
I’m the first one to arrive, so I open the studio. The first thing I do is to “fight” with the alarm, (any day the alarm system triggers),  I go to my fishbowl and I turn on the computer and the coffee machine (and I fill it with water). Afterwards I check the e-mails and start getting warmed up. The first thing I do every morning is to update the bank account, it is very important to see who has paid. Around 9 o’clock I usually have a meeting  with Luz,  we catch up on news, projects…
Basically, I have to have the data ready before they ask me, which gives me freedom and pressure at the same time.

What are you working on right now?
Right now I’m busy with budgets… that’s all I can tell you

What is the part of your job you enjoy most?
Counting receipts. This is for a financier like the smell of napalm in the morning to a Marine.

And the part you enjoy least?
Say no, there are ideas that we have to decline and, it seems I like to turn down, but no, it’s not cool to be Mr NO

What was the best moment you had at Tequila Works?
Reaching the breakeven point.

If you could work in something else, what would you do?
The truth is that like everyone in this industry, I’m also a freak.  In my case I love numbers and create scenarios in Excel is more fun than it seems. Now, if I could, I’d like to read a lot and write political economy essays (freak!!).

If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Fly so I can save money in gasoline.

What game would you take with you  to a desert island?
A game very long and not very difficult one, I don’t like to think when I play. Same old, same old!

If you could be one animal, which animal would you be?
A koala. They sleep 22 hours a day? I’m in!
