How is your typical day at Tequila Works?
It would depend on how early I arrive to the office. If I get there early, I usually get some work done before the daily meeting. After that, I get up to date with the email and attend scheduled meetings. In the daily meeting we stablish the priorities for the day, and determine if there are any blockers or problems ahead that require the producer’s attention. After that, the studio designers have our own meeting.
After that, I head straight to the kitchen, grab some delicious coffee and I am ready to start!
What are you working on at the moment?
At this point in the game’s development, the design work consists on polish the game in order to get the best possible gaming experience. I am making sure the game’s logic works as intended in all the levels.
What’s the part of your job you enjoy most?
What I enjoy the most is creating new scenarios and trying to figure out how the players will interpret what we want to transmit with the game. I love being able to guide the player without him or her realizing I am doing so.
Creating scenarios and contextualizing them in the game’s story is a really creative process, and it is really rewarding when the player feels attached to it.
And the part you enjoy least?
By necessity, I am now more focused on scripting than on building levels, and I don’t enjoy it that much, as it’s not all that “creative”. Since I have some programming background, I am the most apt for that task in my department, and it is a vital task, so I soldier up to it.
What are you playing at the moment, or what game are you looking forward to?
I have been playing League of Legends since the beginning. I am really looking forward playing Overwatch. I tried the closed beta and I loved it. I have always enjoyed playing FPS, and this one looks like it will have me engaged for quite some time. A lot of guys in the studio are already playing it, and they are goading me into buying it.
