We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Combat Designer. The right candidate will share our passion to create amazing and challenging gaming experiences. He or she will work as part of a cross-discipline team to develop memorable games.

We are based in Madrid, but currently working remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative and creative combat design ideas based on the creative vision to specific titles.
  • Provide critical and creative insight and feedback on game concepts to improve and fine tune the game.
  • Work with all departments such as, animation and FX to create compelling combat mechanics.
  • Tune combat to balance gameplay elements and ensure the highest level of player engagement.
  • Attend and participate in combat-specific discussions concerning combat design and combat design issues.
  • Complete thorough documentation for all assigned features.
  • Support the team with other design related tasks when necessary.

Requirements / Skills

  • At least one shipped game as combat designer.
  • Video game related degree and/or comparable videogame experience.
  • Experience implementing and tuning animation timing windows for attacks, blocks, hit reactions, branches, and other actions.
  • Must be able to grasp and work with code-based proprietary tools to implement and troubleshoot assigned characters.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4 and Blueprints.
  • Must comprehend a working knowledge of the game production pipeline to communicate effectively with other team members.
  • Have a flexible, creative, and open-minded approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to think logically with a strong level of attention to detail.

Senior Technical Artist (Remote work)

Tequila Works is looking for a highly creative and motivated Senior Technical Artist to join the team. The successful candidate will be involved helping the team achieve the challenge of quality in our current games. He or she will also be expected to play a critical role in setting best technical practices for the development of our tools, pipelines and systems.

We are based in Madrid, but currently working remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Project Art Directors to implement the desired visuals in game including complex shader development
  • Develop appropriate art pipelines and workflow, working in conjunction with the Art Leads and the programming team
  • Strive to maximize art production performance and predictability
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical art production issues
  • Work with code team to develop tools/scripts/plugins to streamline art processes, workflows and pipelines
  • Participate in pre-production planning to determine and address technical design requirements and issues
  • Train artists in the skills necessary to execute the art path efficiently
  • Drive the development of a photo/video reference system that enables easy and efficient access to massive amounts of reference material

Requirements and Skills:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Graphic Art or a related field
  • +2 years of experience in video games creating real-time, next generation games and at least 1 shipped game
  • Must be a wizard with Unreal Engine 4
  • Computer programming/scripting experience
  • Complete understanding of 3D graphics principles and procedures
  • Highly skilled with Adobe Package, Maya, and or 3DS Max
  • Strong knowledge of one or more major 3D animation packages
  • Advanced knowledge of programming theory and Blueprints
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Work well under deadlines and multi-tasks
  • Full professional proficiency in English, Spanish speaking skills are a plus

Senior VFX Artist (Remote work)

Tequila Works is looking for a highly creative and motivated Senior VFX Artist to join the team. The successful candidate will be involved helping achieve the challenge of quality in our current games keeping the art direction sight.

We are based in Madrid, but currently working remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Create VFX shaders with node-based unreal material editor
  • Create your own assets, textures, PBR materials, simulations, etc. to create outstanding VFX
  • Liaise with art direction to maintain VFX art direction for game
  • Work solo or with other Designers, Artists or Animators to populate the world with VFX
  • Understand and respect the performance limitations of real time environments
  • Work closely with other disciplines of video game development
  • Provide/Receive feedback to/from other Artists

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Art-related degree and/or comparable professional experience
  • +2 years of experience in video games creating real-time, next generation games and at least 1 shipped game
  • Exceptional visual and technical understanding of effect and particle generation in real and non-real-time renderers
  • Must be a wizard with Unreal Engine 4 particle System (Cascade / Niagara)
  • Proficient in Photoshop and Maya, Houdini, 3DS Max or XSI particle systems
  • Proficiency in other offline simulation and rendering technologies a plus
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Full professional proficiency in English, Spanish speaking skills are a plus

Senior animator (Remote work)

Tequila Works is looking for an experienced and highly creative passionate Senior Animator. The successful candidate will be involved helping the team achieve the challenge of quality in our current games. He or she will also be expected to play a critical role in setting best technical practices for the development of our tools, pipelines and systems.

We are based in Madrid, but currently working remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Create high quality animations
  • Animate both primary and secondary characters aswell as any other props needed
  • Iterate on these motions to create compelling, entertaining, and visually appealing game-play and/or cinematic events
  • Work closely with the animation lead and supervisor
  • Identify problems, bring fresh ideas to the team and drive creative solutions
  • Meet schedules and complete tasks by the assigned due dates
  • Document and explain the work done clearly and concisely

Requirements and Skills:

  • +3 years of experience working in videogames industry and having experienced the whole cycle of development from concept release
  • A traditional animation and/or art background
  • Experience creating high quality game combat animations, a plus
  • Good sense of weight and timing in your animation performances
  • Good understanding of acting principles and basic camera staging
  • A thorough knowledge of Maya
  • Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine 4
  • Previous experience working with Mo-Bu
  • A positive attitude to work collaboratively in an open team environment, giving feedback and being open to receive and act on constructive criticism
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Excellent self-organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent cross-team communication skills
